Big win for a Little brewery at 2008 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show
The Little Brewing Company's (TLBC) Wicked Elf beers have won gold, silver and bronze medals in the Sydney Royal Beer Competition at the 2008 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show.
TLBC received a gold medal for its Wicked Elf Pale Ale, a silver medal for its Wicked Elf Pilsner, and a bronze medal for its Wicked Elf Witbier produced by owner and brewer, Warwick Little.
“Three medals out of three beers entered is a fantastic result for a new brewery that has only been selling for seven months, and in our first competition entered against professional breweries in Australia,” said Managing Director, Kylie Little.
“The gold medal for the Wicked Elf Pale Ale is really something special as there were only six gold medals awarded across the entire competition this year, with no gold medals awarded in last year's competition,” Kylie said.
“Our gold medal was one of only two gold medals awarded in the Pale/Golden Ale class, with the other gold medal going to Alpha Pale Ale, the eventual champion beer of the show, which is produced by Matilda Bay Brewing Company, a well established and much larger brewery,” said Kylie.
“The Wicked Elf Pilsner also did well gaining one of only three silver medals awarded in the Golden Lagers class, with no gold medals awarded in this class. There were also no gold medals awarded in the Wheat Beers class in which the Wicked Elf Witbier picked up a bronze medal,” said Kylie.
“The results are an important benchmark for us against other breweries in Australia at such an early stage in our business, and demonstrate that this region's brewery is capable of producing beer of premium quality that stands with the best that is produced across Australia,” added Kylie.
