TLBC submitted eight entries across bottle and draught categories to come away with eight medals, including a gold medal for its recently released Mad Abbot Tripel.
“Across the history of this competition only 16 gold medals have been awarded and we now have two of these. That’s not bad going for a new brewery,” said owner and brewer, Warwick Little.
“We pride ourselves on not cutting corners to deliver a quality product and we are consistently placed among the quality beers being made in Australia,” Warwick said.
The ‘limited release’ Mad Abbot range is the brewery’s homage to the Trappist Ale styles of Belgium. The Tripel is the third offering in the range with a Strong Abbey Ale and a Dubbel having previously been released.
The Mad Abbot Tripel, at 9.5% ABV, was the best ‘strong beer’ (minimum alcohol content 6 per cent) entered in the Sydney Royal competition.
The brewery’s Wicked Elf range again performed strongly collecting four silver medals for the Wicked Elf Pilsner and Wicked Elf Witbier.
Having scored a gold medal with the first limited release of the Mad Abbot Tripel, TLBC’s brewer said the beer will definitely get a second release.
